This silver dollar, hereby delivered by the President of the Greater Boston Eruv Corporation, shall constitute payment in full, for the next ninety-nine years, to the Governor and State of Massachusetts for the rental of the rights of the domain within the Eruv District of Boston, Brookline, and Newton, Massachusetts for the purposes of "carrying" on the Sabbath and other Jewish holidays in accordance with Orthodox Jewish Law.
Silver Dollar 1980
Executed this 15th day of December, 1992.

Instructions: The Kinyan Kesef document, with the affixed item of value, for example, a silver dollar as seen above, is read out loud to a representative of the governmental area or district for which one is looking to execute the lease. This agreement would only cover parts of the Eruv that are installed within the jurisdictional area of the individual group with whom one is making the Kinyan. If parts of the Eruv are in an adjoining jurisdiction, another Kinyan Kesef would be required. The governmental official, after hearing the contents of the Kinyan document receives the document from the Eruv representative and lifts the document upwards a distance of at least 5 inches. This lifting serves to demonstrate ownership of the Kinyan and certifies the agreement.
